There’s no before picture of the top-floor guest bedroom (the one with the second-best view, after the loft). Sam and Scott (pictured here at the end of their first day) had it stripped of its old wall, exposing the original within hours of arriving back in July. We were too slow to get the pic!

It was also the first to be lined with the bobbled damp-proof membrane and battens. IMG_9826And the first to get its skim of plaster.

At the moment it is a store for some of our worldly goods (mostly Chris’s books) — still in boxes — but now out of store on the final leg of their journey from a bookshelf in Portland Or USA to our “library” in Kingscourt, Stroud UK. It’ll be like Christmas when we finally get to open them after more than three years.

Suggestions please for a replacement for the wallpaper (we are going to frame the photo of the pattern for posterity). We are taking bookings from next spring on a stay-and-paint-your-own-bedroom basis.
