Drenched to the bone, Sam and Jack worked through a downpour to erect a new storm porch over our rear door to keep at bay the elements over the coming winter. Sam was singing as they heaved the large structure into place.
We did our best to offer moral support, Midge making tea and me getting cold and damp and offering drippy encouragement from the sidelines in solidarity. Sam just had a broad smile on his face and Jack was laughing. “I love it when it’s like this,” said Sam.
In the dry, we’ve now added a gutter and downpipe to take the water away from the house. It’ll keep us dry till the new dining room/conservatory roof is in place, sometime before Christmas perhaps?
